Why Warner Robins Georgia Is A Great Place To Live

Warner Robins is the largest city in Houston County Georgia and is often referred to as Georgia's International City. With Robins Air Force Base situated on the northeast part of town, this community is truly a melting pot of styles and demographics, all with a rich military history and tradition.

It was established in 1821, took the name Warner Robins (after Air Force General Augustine Warner Robins) in 1942, and has seen considerable change and growth over the last nearly 200 years. The cost of living in this city is incredibly reasonable which led Business Week to call it the best place in Georgia to raise a family (two years in a row). It also made CNN Money's list of best small cities to live in, 2012 (#7). This community is a wonderful place to call home!

Things to Love About Warner Robins

Military Heritage - The Warner Robins motto "Every Day in Middle Georgia is Armed Forces Appreciation Day" (EDIMGIAFAD) gives you an understanding just how important the military is and has been to this community over the decades. In 1940, when the war department decided to build an air depot in the south, this area was chosen, with construction beginning almost immediately on the 3,000+ allotted acres.

Over the years, Robins Air Force Base as grown in stature, mission, and size, with the city of Warner Robins following suit. With over 25K personnel employed on the base, its 35 square miles are covered with a variety of Department of Defense activities each day. It is difficult to go anywhere in the county without knowing someone who works at or retired from the base.

Activities Abound - Surprisingly, there is quite a few varied activities in the local area to pique a wide variety of consumer interests. The 2nd largest Museum of Aviation in the nation is here with an incredible array of military related artifacts, history information, and fun events and activities for the entire family to enjoy. This area also has its own playhouse theatre, with 5 new productions held each year.

For those who like adventure you can try out Rigby's Entertainment Complex and enjoy one or several of the fun activities they have available. For those who like to venture out, Macon is less than 30 miles away, Atlanta is only 100 miles north, and the Florida border is only 2.5 hours south. If outdoor sports are your thing, you can always go watch some of our top quality football, baseball, and softball teams. In fact, Warner Robins is the only city in the U.S. that can proudly boast of winning both the boys Little League World Series (2007) and the girls Little League Softball World Series (2009 & 2010).

There are also a multitude of lakes, rivers, and hunting areas for those who like to relax and enjoy what mother nature has made. Whatever your passion, there is a good bet you can find it in Warner Robins GA!

Notable former/current residents include former Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue (and his first cousin, U.S. Senator David Perdue), numerous former/current NFL players (i.e. James Brooks, Eddie Anderson, Chansi Stuckey, etc), professional wrestler Ron Simmons, Russell Branyan (MLB), Robert Lee Scott (author of God is My Co-Pilot), and 2016 Miss America, Betty Cantrell.

Affordable Housing – One of the benefits of living in a diverse city like Warner Robins is the abundance of affordable housing. With a median home value of $111K, there is a variety of home styles, neighborhoods, and property options to fit nearly every situation. If you are looking for a starter home, something your family can grow into, or a home you can enjoy your twilight years in, it is available in Warner Robins.

The typical range of homes is $100K - $300K but there are a multitude of options below and above these price points too. For those who decide to rent instead, there are a host of apartments, townhomes, and single family properties to pick from.

I am confidant you can find exactly what you seek in this city. In fact, it makes sense to work with one of  the top real estate agents in Warner Robins, who can provide a wealth of information you cannot find looking for homes on your own. I would love the opportunity to earn your trust...call me and let's discuss your options in this market!

Location – Found nearly center in the state, it is not surprising that many call this area their home because of its close proximity to many other locales. Within a few hours you can visit Atlanta, Savannah, Jacksonville FL, and Tallahassee FL to name a few cities. Other notable areas close by include Charlestown SC. Birmingham AL, and Augusta GA. This city has a small-town feel with many of the perks of living in a larger place.

With decent restaurants and a mild climate, it is not unusual to find residents enjoying all this city has to offer, well after nightfall, especially from March-November. If you are considering moving to Warner Robins Georgia, you should expect decent schools, a very reasonable cost of living, passionate people, and world class youth sports.

It is no wonder it has twice been named the "Best Place to Raise a Family in Georgia". Warner Robins is my adopted home and I am very proud to raise my family, live. play, and work here. Yes indeed, EDIMGIAFAD!
