What's New In Home Security In 2017

There are quite a few new innovations in the home security market that should help homeowners raise the bar against increasingly sophisticated thieves.

Here are some of the areas that are receiving the most attention when it comes to manufacturers creating products:

Door hardware and software:

A decade ago, there were new door locks that came out that utilized the internet and your smartphone to operate your door. They stood the lock industry on its head until the major manufacturers caught up with and crushed the new firms. Today there are a whole new group of door security makers innovating once again. One new product focuses on the doorbell, placing most of the technology that connects to your smartphone inside the actual ringer.

Other products hone in on the market for upgrades that replace existing pieces of your door without requiring completely new fixtures. There is one new product that simply replaces the deadbolt lock mechanism, leaving your original lock in place. For a low cost and an easy install, you get smartphone access and Bluetooth scheduling capability.

Sonic or radar sensors:

If you live in a nice neighborhood, your home or apartment is likely to be checked out in the future by thieves using car-mounted radar. They can literally drive by and map your home and office with modified equipment that also tells them whether or not you are home. How do the know you are home? There are now products on the market that are heat and motion sensing that can find people and animals within a home by focusing on a heart beat or the slightest movement. In minutes they can tell if you are home.

One solution for this brave, new world is to use home security hubs and sensors to create a system in your home that can detect interference. With radar, if your home is hit, it usually sounds and feels just like it does when you are hit by the police to check your speed in your car. If you have chronic problems you can look into some of the new sonic/radar 'find the source of a disturbance' products that will report to you the direction and location of a problem. You can also use amplifiers that have sonic sensors tied to them so that they play music and cancel out any potential disturbances when they are detected.

Other sensors:

In addition to sonic and radar sensors, there are also home security systems that include fire detection sensors, water damage sensors, and camera sensors that can detect any type of disturbance and notify you via smartphone wherever you are in the world.

Cameras in particular have really become advanced. If you have a home business, you may look at getting motion detection cameras and lights so that you can dissuade any intruders that do show up. Infrared cameras that thieves are using can also be used against them. Because they tell you how much heat someone is giving off, they can be set to notify you and set off alarms when an intruder is near. One,of the most popular gray market cameras is worth mentioning because you probably won't want it when you realize that the sonic that it uses in accompanying recognition of someone dangerous will blast people acoustically on public sidewalks if they are mistakenly identified, giving you some potential liability

Home security isn't getting any easier- but it can be when you use the latest equipment to help make your house a safer place. Having experienced consultants give you a recommendation when you decide which equipment you want can save you time and money.
