How to save money on your flooring

Written by Posted On Friday, 26 May 2017 09:05

Yes, all homes have floors and they are the foundation of your decor.  They can have a big impact on the style and value of your home.  Adding hardwood floors can be one of the smartest investments you can make.  Or sometimes, you already have hardwood floors and just need to refinish them.

Check out this article on hardwood floor and color trends for 2017 to see what's most stylish and popular.  As I'm flooring has essentially become part of my life, I thought I'd provide a few tips to help you save some money on your flooring, so here goes.

1.  If you're refinishing your floors, consider purchasing the polyurethane online to save money.  Check out this article on the best brands of polyurethane for hardwood flooring.  This way, you can make sure you're getting the best brands and the best products for your floors.  The article shows you where you can buy these items online via Amazon.

2.  If you are enterprising and handy, you may consider installing the floors yourself.  Of course many flooring projects (e.g. sanding floors) should not be attempted by do-it-yourselfers, there are certain products that can be done very well by DIYers.  Coretec Plus is a perfect example of this.  It's a cool product as it looks like hardwood, but it's waterproof.  Check out my full review of Coretec Plus.  It even contains a video on how to install the product.

3.  Get some multiple estimates.  This will help you get a better sense of prices and also who is better at the work.  Don't just go for the lowest price (as that may mean inferior skills).  Look at the big picture of who you think will do the best job and who is providing the best value for their services.

4.  Figure out what parts (if any) you can do to save money.  For example, many of our customers like to save money by ripping up the carpet or moving the furniture themselves.  Figure out what you can do, and figure out what's best to leave to the professionals.
