Adopting the Eclectic Style in Hawaii Luxury Beachfront Homes

Written by Posted On Tuesday, 22 August 2017 23:43

Decorating Hawaii luxury homes homes can be a challenge – but a fun and truly rewarding one. They are supposed to carry the carefree island vibe, yet being a luxury home demands a particular tasteful look. Today, we will talk about an aesthetic that can be the solution to this problem: the eclectic style. An eclectic interior design combines different looks, but makes them coherent somehow.

Here are some tips for adopting it:

Start with a good palette. It all starts with a classy color scheme, which is powerful, in that it can dictate the mood of a room. That said, it should be clear to you what ambience you are going for, which would also depend on the activities you intend to hold in the space. Some palettes can even make a room feel both intimate but also full of energy, such as ruby red, emerald green, magenta, or deep purple – perfect for spaces where you intend to hold lively conversations with guests over a glass of martini. For a home office, blue is thought to be a good color for promoting productivity. Accent colors also have an impact. A touch of gold on the trim of a burgundy wall is going to be very classy for a living room, while white generally works as an accent color for pastels. When you choose the colors of your wall paint and your furniture and accents, make sure they all go well together, and help create the feel you have in mind.

Be personal. Combining objects are easy if they tell a story – especially personal ones. And if you intend to impress your guests, you would like to show them that your home is not of the cookie cutter type, but that it is now the home of a family with collective memories and milestones. Be generous with your display of family memorabilia and heirlooms – for example, framed photographs, tapestries handed down from your ancestors, and antique cabinets and tables from your childhood home. All these things will distinguish your home from the rest, and lend it character. Do find something common for these, say, frames with a similar look for the pictures.

Go all-in. An eclectic space has a fully decorated and intimate feel, due to the sheer weight of all the items in the room. If you choose this aesthetic, be committed to it – go all in when it comes to hunting curios and tchotchkes that are beautiful, well-crafted, and unique. It is perfectly fine to have half a dozen lamps in a single room, and a fully loaded tablescape with vases, candleholders, trays, and other handcrafted decor. There should be a layered look that also combines textures, colors, and patterns, which can also be brought in by one’s choice of artworks, chandelier type, curtains, carpeting, upholstery on the chairs, table runners, and tiles for a room.
