How to Choose a Concrete Grinder For Home Renovation

Single-head material grinders are low-cost, comparatively violent and easy to handle, but consent crushing shoulders called tool marks that appear as rings when the concrete gets wet or when a sealer is applied. Larger diameter grades will leave a flatter finish with fewer tool marks than smaller diameter grinders, however, they will not grind to the bottom of the depressions so easily that they could leave the ground with many small areas where the ground does not have been ground. Double-head concrete grinders are faster than single-head grinders because they cover more area with the disadvantage that they are much heavier to move and consume more electrical energy. These concrete grinders are mainly used for general flattening or cleaning concrete, or they can be used to expose the aggregate while they are normally not suitable for polished concrete.

Planetary concrete grinders leave very few tool marks because they have three or four wheels rotating clockwise, and these are connected to a turntable that rotates counterclockwise. The four head machines have two of the heads that rotate clockwise and the two opposing heads rotate counterclockwise as well as rotate the turntable and these have the advantage of being very smooth to operate with almost no lateral force requiring physical exertion to control. These machines are ideal for achieving polished concrete with its smooth polishing finish and the ability to easily replace diamond grinding wheels to move through different sizes of sand.

Another type of concrete mill is the eight-wheeled, flat type, with four of the wheels rotating clockwise and four counterclockwise. These machines also produce excellent results for polished concrete or only for the preparation of concrete floors for cleaning or for the application of coatings. They are also designed for quick and easy replacement of grinding wheels and do not suffer from lateral forces such as three-headed planetary machines or single head machines.

All previous equipment can grind floors easily except for corners and edges. The edges require an edge mill that can place the grindstone against a wall and run along the wall to even grind it to the edge. There is a walk behind the concrete grinders for this purpose which have adjustable wheel tracking axles on the back or a grinding head that can rotate left or right to allow the grinding wheel along the wall while That the concrete mill moves parallel to the wall.

The most common type of floor embroiderer is an angle grinder with a dust cover attached and a grinding diamond wheel underneath. These have a cut section for the wheel to reach the edge of the wall or have a flat sealing section where the wheel protrudes slightly which has better dust control. There is also a type of dust cover that has two flat sections to enter the corners and a style of angle grinder sit where the operator sits on a stool and floats the concrete grinder along with the edge of the wall with handles Located on the grinder to prevent bending. This type has the added advantage of being close enough to the floor to see if it has been ground correctly.

All this equipment requires a vacuum cleaner of adequate size connected to them to avoid dust in the air. Some concrete grinders can operate from the same outlet as the dust collector, while other grinders require an independent circuit outlet. Your choice of the mill will depend on the rental cost, the size of the job, if a smooth finish without tool marks is critical and if the edges need to be ground as well.
