Sell Your Home Quicker and Avoid Extra Stress

Selling your home can be stressful, but decluttering is one sure fire way to help sell your home quicker and so, end the stress quicker. Here's how.

When you sell a home, things get stressful very quickly. This is completely normal, but there are ways to make the stress end quicker, or to make things less stressful in the first place.

Getting your home ready to sell is one of the best ways to reduce stress and to enhance your chances of selling your home on quickly. Realtors will always advise that you declutter if possible, to best show off the space on offer when potential buyers come round to view.

Another reason decluttering is so important is so that your personal possessions in the house can hinder the buyer picturing himself living in the property.

The problem is, after throwing out items you no longer want, what do you do with the items you do want but that are taking up all the space?

Have you considered self storage?

Imagine you had an extra room in your property that nobody saw, that could be any size you wanted, and you could get into it whenever you needed to, to store all those items you don't want at the moment. You could clear out all the rooms in your home and place everything into the storage unit, ready for when you move to your new property.

How wonderful it would be to have that extra space to use in that way? To enable homebuyers to look around your home freely and envision themselves living there. To have the ability to stage your home and give it the best shot at being sold for the asking price. Wouldn't that be great?

Self storage is that extra room. The only difference? That room is based in a secure facility near to your home. You still have a choice of size depending on what you need storing, you still have the ability to come and go freely, you still are able to use it for as long as you want, and to store all your items. The only difference is where the room is.

Using Self Storage To Stage Your Home

Now you know there's this amazing facility you can utilise to sell your home, you need to know how to take full advantage of this service. It does cost money, but the money is worthwhile if it means selling your home quickly, and there's plenty you can do to make the most of it as well so that it ends up being cost-effective:

  • Don't store anything you will throw away - declutter properly first - getting rid of items you don't want or need. That way you're only paying to store items you want to keep.
  • Make sure you use a company that will advise you properly on how much space you need. You don't want a room too small to fit all your items in, or one so big you're paying for space you don't need.
  • Choose a cheap self storage company that you like, not just the first one you find. They should have lots of security features, they should be helpful and they should have clean and well-kept units.
  • Be ready to pay for quality of service, rather than the cheapest option out there. This unit is holding your prized possessions, they need to be right, not cheap and you might have to pay a bit more for the best.
