Royal Flush: 4 Ideas For Making Your Bathroom Luxurious

Because most baths are small, the great thing about renovating one is that you can splurge when it comes to materials and technology. Here are three ideas for making your bathroom luxurious:

Marble Everywhere

Marble is prized for its cool touch, its beauty and its toughness. White or pale marble has a quality of bouncing back any light that falls into it. Marble ranges in color from pure white to solid black and often comes with beautiful veins and clouds. It's an excellent material for a vanity top, and marble tiles on the walls and floors make the room especially beautiful. If you’re worried that a marble floor is going to be cold in the morning on your bare feet, you can install radiant heating beneath it. A less expensive solution is to place bathroom mats on the floor.

Whirlpool

A whirlpool bath pumps water from the bathtub, aerates it then returns the swirling, bubbling water through jets in the tub wall. Things to keep in mind are that they tend to be heavier than regular bathtubs and have a pump and special piping beneath them. Since they’re deeper than regular tubs, they use more hot water. Make sure that your floor is strong enough to hold one and that your hot water heater can meet the demand for a pleasurable soak. Other than this, whirlpool tubs can be recessed, placed in a corner, dropped into a platform, or freestanding.

Freestanding Tub

Deep, freestanding tubs are perfect for a long soak. They can be placed just about anywhere in the bathroom. People usually think of a Victorian tub with clawed feet, but there are tubs set on low pedestals or have neither feet nor pedestals. Nowadays, they’re often made of acrylic, but they can be made of cast iron, copper, stone, solid surface or concrete. Some are faced with premium woods such as mahogany and have brass fittings. Their faucets are free-standing or wall mounted.

Showers Fit for a Spa

Shower stalls can be so luxurious that you’ll never want to leave them. They can have storage niches, a bench and controls for steam, body spray and body mist, water temperature and pressure. They can be fitted with rain showerheads with LED lights that change colors as the water cascades over you. That old shower curtain that was so hard to clean can be replaced by an elegant glass shower door by a company like Glasshopper Schor Glass.

So, if you’re thinking of renovating your bathroom, don’t be afraid to open the purse a bit. You and your family will love the new amenities, and guests will be impressed.
