5 easy ways to declutter a property for maximum profits

Written by Posted On Tuesday, 10 October 2017 09:17

Properties ridden with trash and clutter fetch considerably less than their counterparts.  As a matter of fact even raw land is worth more when it's cleared of trash and debris.

Have you disposed of waste lately? Chances are if you have you have probably noticed it isn't the cheapest of endeavours, of course there are ways to maximize your dollars.

The waste stream from a property or estate usually varies but it usually consists of a lot of recyclable material which can be recycled or donated without having to spend a dime.

Of course these money saving tips are especially useful for probate properties or other properties in which the property owner does not have the money to prepare the property for sale.

  1. 1. Recycle all the junk metal!  Sometimes you can even get paid.
  2. Go ahead and consolidate all junky metal items, tools, exercise equipment into a large pile.  Place an ad in the craigslist free section, the large pile of metal will surely attract plenty of metal recyclers,  The large pile will provide a more attractive incentive and depending on the price of steel will probably get someone to come pick it up free of charge.
  3. If you feel like undertaking this for your client then look for a recycler. Sims metal, and schnitzer steel are large recyclers and a good place to start if you are looking to recycle metal.

  1. 2.   Work something out with a hauler or dumpster rental company.
  2. There are many junk removal services and even some dumpster rental companies who would be more than happy to be paid after the property sells.  Yep, that's right they will clear the property of junk , old furniture or rent you debris boxes for your project and collect once the property sells.
  3. Having a hard time securing such company?
  4. try this resource
  5.  Try a local dumpster rental service or hauling service, they are less tied down by corporate policy and will probably be happy to work with a real estate professional.
  6.  Of course this technique is more effective if if you sweeten the deal by adding a 10% premium to the invoice.  Most property owners would be more than happy to shell out a bit of extra cash after they get paid themselves.

3.  Free Websites, a gold mine for getting rid of junk for free

Whether it be the free section of craigslist, the app letgo there is a plethora of apps and facebook groups dedicated to trading and swapping "frees stuff".  A lot of the waste stream in the average household or property can be repurposed or reused.

Take advantage of this and let other people do the work for you.   On top of this you can feel good about knowing you did the correct thing.

4.  Donate your electronics!

No need to throw them away, as a matter of fact it's not eco-conscious to do so, instead looking for a recycler who will take them.

Most charities like st vincent de paul and salvation army will take electronics, resell them to the public or recyclers but make sure to call your local charity to check their policy.

Follow these easy steps and you will find you have become a recycling machine capable of increasing the bottom line while doing the right thing for your client and the environment.

5. Hire an estate liquidator

This step is very powerful and only hire an estate liquidator if you have enough to make it worth their time.  An estate liquidator professional comes armed with knowledge to get your items sold for the maximum amount without much of your input.

Indeed they still stage, clean and do everything for you, for a cut of the profit of course.  For example in the San Francisco Bay Area for estate liquidation

The results?

90% of the estate was sold the rest was recycled or hauled off to the dump.

Recently my friend had an estate sale in san francisco, she hired a sweet home estate liquidation.

Without a doubt the results were astonishing.

This little trick can save you thousands in hauling fees.   These esate liquidation professionals are in most parts of the country.  Don't be shy give them a call and watch your stuff dissapear.
