What Causes a Refrigerator Water Dispenser Not to Work?

Written by Posted On Monday, 16 October 2017 00:30

If you have one of those refrigerators that have a water dispenser and you notice that it doesn’t work, check for these most common causes.
• Frozen water tube. You can confirm if the water tube is frozen by disconnecting the tube at the bottom of the door first, then blowing air through it. If you notice that air does not pass through, it means that the tube is frozen. Simply thaw it out. You should also note that the temperature of the freezer should be kept between 0-10 degrees Fahrenheit.
• Defective water inlet valve. Check if the water pressure is too low; it will cause the water valve not to open. Make sure that there is at least 20 psi water pressure to the valve. If the pressure is sufficient but the problem is still there, replace the valve.
If the problem still persists, call a professional for further diagnosis.
