A garbage disposer is essential in every household because it helps get rid of your food scraps after having your everyday meals. If your garbage disposer doesn’t start when you turn on the switch, the first thing to do is check for a tripped GFI or circuit breaker and then reset it by pushing the top one or red button.
If it didn’t restore the power, perhaps there’s a clog and the internal breaker tripped. This commonly happens if you often put bones or fibrous vegetables in the drain. Unplug the unit and locate the breaker in the main panel. Reset it by turning it all the way off and then back on.
If nothing happens or if you are having difficulty resetting your garbage disposer, it is probably because of a loose wiring or a motor problem. Whichever is the case, this would be the time to seek help from a professional appliance service technician.
