How to Troubleshoot a Garage Door Remote or Wall Switch Issue

Written by Posted On Sunday, 22 October 2017 01:11

The first to inspect if your remote control does not operate your garage door opener are the batteries. Replace them if needed. But if the wall switch is also not making your opener work, then the power source may be damaged or disrupted in some way. Next to examine is the motor unit. Make sure that the cord is plugged in all the way.
Test the lights and other electrical circuits in your garage. If they are not functioning then the fuse, circuit breaker or GFCI of your door opener circuit is damaged or burned out. The next thing to do is reset the GFCI or breaker and replace the defective fuse.
A burned out and non-operating door opener motor can also become the culprit. If this is likely the cause, then a replacement is needed. You can do it by yourself or seek help from a garage door service person.
