What to Look for When Your Washing Machine Stops Spinning

Written by Posted On Sunday, 22 October 2017 20:51

When you find your washer not spinning, the issue is likely to be a broken belt, defective lid switch or a motor problem. You can diagnose the problem by doing the following:

• Check the spin cycle of the washing machine. If it is working, the motor is ok and the belt is not defective. Check for the belt for it may be loose or broken. You can just tighten it if it’s loose or replace it if it’s broken.
• Check if the lid switch is defective. You can also check for the tab on the lid. If it is broken, the washing machine may stop during a cycle. Try to press and release the lid switch. If you cannot hear a clicking sound, it may be defective.

If the above measures didn’t solve the issue, there may be a bigger problem. You can ask help from an appliance service technician.
