There is no need to panic when your washer starts leaking water on the floor. It usually takes only an hour or two to fix the problem yourself. Also, getting your equipment repaired without calling an appliance service technician can save you money. Here’s how to fix your washer’s leak.
The most common reason a washer leaks is damaged supply hoses. These hoses feed water into the washer during wash cycle, and can be found at the back of the machine. Before making any repairs, make sure your washer’s power supply is turned off to prevent any injury. Turn off the water main, then unscrew the supply hoses using pliers. Inspect the hoses to determine if they are corroded and need replacement. If the hoses are still in good condition, replace the internal washers with new, elastic ones. Make sure that all connections are tight and secure before using your washer again.
