5 Cool Home Additions That Make Your Property Impressive

Most homeowners buy additions to their home for their pleasure or comfort or the pleasure and comfort of their families. However, there are some home additions that can make a property impressive and may even add to its resale value when the time comes. Here are five of them:

A Swimming Pool

It is true that swimming pools are expensive and require maintenance, but they can’t be beat on those hot summer days. They can be above ground or in-ground, and can be round, oval, rectangular, irregular or kidney-shaped. They can be illusion pools that seem to have no end and stretch to the horizon. Builders can construct pools that the swimmer wades into as on a beach. They can be indoor, outdoor, or both. There are actually swimming pools that are built with one part inside the home or the pool house and the rest outside. Depending on the zoning laws in the area, pools can have their own additions such as diving boards or sliding ponds, heating units, automatic covers, artificial currents and underwater lighting.

Hot Tubs and Whirlpool Baths

If you can’t quite afford or don’t want a pool, you can install a hot tub or a whirlpool. Like the swimming pool, they can be indoors or outdoors. Hot tubs are used for relaxation and hydrotherapy or enjoying that last glass of wine in the evening. Depending on the market, a well-maintained hot tub in just the right spot can increase a home’s resale value. Hot tubs and whirlpool tubs can be freestanding, dropped into a platform in the middle of the room or installed in a recess. They agitate the water by mixing it with air and pumping it out through jets found in the tub walls. The difference between a hot tub and a whirlpool bath is that the hot tub has heating and filtering systems while the whirlpool is drained after every use like a regular bathtub.

Both whirlpool bath and hot tub ownership are great additions that can raise your home value as well.

Storage Under the Stairs

Instead of the area under a staircase being a waste of space, many homeowners are having storage units installed there. These units can store everything from sports equipment to out-of-season clothes, bedding and cookware to board games. When they’re not in use, the units can be tucked back under the staircase so completely that no stranger would suspect they were there.

Home Theater

A room in the house can be made up just like a miniature movie theater, with padded adjustable seats with snack trays, a state of the art sound and projection system and a big screen. The theater does even not have to be in the house, but can be placed outside on the patio, with comfortable chaise lounges arranged before the screen.

A Treehouse

A big, sturdy tree in the backyard can serve as the site of a treehouse. This is definitely a draw for families with young children who are in the market for a new home. A treehouse can be as simple as a box made out of timber or amazingly complex, with several stories connected by a spiral staircase or ladders, electric lighting, glass-paned windows, decks and rope bridges. Treehouses can even be built indoors in their own treehouse room.

These are only a few of the additions to the home that can make any property stand out. They provide hours of pleasure for the family and lure both guests and potential buyers. Some do require a lay out of money, but others are surprisingly inexpensive. Which add-ons to install are up to the homeowner and their family.
