When Should I Adjust the Limit Switches?

Written by Posted On Tuesday, 21 November 2017 03:37

If your garage door closes but then goes back up again then you may need to adjust the limit setting. This problem is very common among newly installed garage doors.
The garage door limit dictates how far the door can go up or down. It is a safety feature that prevents the door from crushing an object underneath it. If the limit setting is higher than the normal range, the door will reverse.
The door assumes that an object is hindering its path, so it will automatically go back up. You can simply adjust the setting. Look for the dial or knob on the garage door opener motor.
You may need to refer to the user manual of the opener to locate the knob or dial. The location differs among garage door brands. Expect to use a trial and error method in figuring out the right setting.
