Things to Look Out for When Visually Inspecting Your Garage Door

Written by Posted On Thursday, 14 December 2017 00:23

The first step and the easiest way to maintain your garage door is to perform a visual inspection at least monthly. This can greatly help you to enjoy your garage door service for years and even decades. It is a heavy object that is on the move regularly and parts breaking or becoming loose is unavoidable. The visual inspection is mostly done inside the garage.

Get inside the garage and close the door. Check the edges and seams to see if there are gaps visible. If there are gaps present, it means that the door is not properly aligned. You need to check the tracks as well. Go through each track and make sure they are aligned correctly and are parallel from each other. Also check for possible debris build up along the tracks.

Check the pulleys, rollers, cables and other hardware that are mounted. Make sure the cables and springs are tight and the rollers should not wobble. The bearings should also be well lubricated. If you see any problems, call your garage door repair technician to resolve the issue.
