Moving is stressful. It’s time consuming and expensive and keeps you up at night. It doesn’t matter how big or small of a move you have or how far you’re going, the fact is that it’s going to take a lot out of you. But, this is a case of the pros outweighing the cons. Because once you move into your new space and get it set up, everything seems to melt away. One of the joys in the after-move glow is sharing on social media. It is a growing trend, and, as a study from Invitation Homes shows, it’s quite popular on Instagram.

The national rental company looked at thousands of Instagram posts that used popular moving hashtags: #movingday, #newhome, and #moving. They looked at more than a year’s worth of data and found some interesting results after analyzing.

They were able to find the cities that were most likely to Instagram their move, based on posts per capita. Florida was the big winner here with five states in the top 10. Palm Beach, FL took the top spot. Also in the top 10 in Florida were Miami, Sarasota, Orlando, and Tampa. I guess when you move to the beach or a warm client, you want to show it off.

The company also narrowed their search and focused on the most popular locations for Instagramming a move within thirteen major U.S. cities. A common trend among all the cities was that the downtown area was a common spot. There are a few reasons why this might be the case. First off, people could be moving to the downtown area to be closer to nightlight and such. Another reason could be people Instagramming iconic landmarks in the downtown area to signify where they are moving to their social media followers.

Interestingly, they also had a quick stat on the most popular day of the week to share. It wasn’t a weekend and you might imagine -- instead, it was a Friday.

If you’re proud of your new home, snap a picture of your new digs to share on Instagram. You never know who might be looking at moving into the area or looking for design inspiration. Moving into a new home is an exciting venture, whether you’re moving far away or somewhere closely. Having a place to call your own is worth sharing -  your friends and family can share in the excitement this way.
