If you're unsure about when to begin investing in your home coverage, the time is now.  We pay for safety every day whether it comes to auto, life, or health insurance. We would be foolish to take care of our homes any differently.

How to Keep Thieves Away

If you are nervous about adding another monthly expense to your budget do not worry there are plenty of wireless alarm system options available.  There are loads of small security fixes that can make your home more secure or deter thieves.  For example, if you have some sliding doors on your home make certain to add a board on the track so that the door won't be able to open from the outside even if it's accidentally left unlocked.  Keep your key in a small lock box that is not visible to people. Install motion activated lights to brighten dark areas. Keep potential hiding spots to a minimum and trim the shrubbery around your dwelling.  Install window locks so that an intruder is not able to gain entry into your home because of an unlocked window.  If you're on vacation for an extended period of time ask your neighbors to pick up your mail or park in your garage while you're away.  You also have the choice of buying a security sign or a fake security camera to put near your front door whether you've got a system or not.  All of these tips make it less possible for your home to be targeted by a burglar.

The Advantages of a Security Systems

If you want to purchase a security system there are loads of advantages to doing so.  Individuals who have security systems save an average of 12% on their homeowner's insurance yearly.  For people who are attempting to sell their home, security systems increase the property value of the estate.   Most security systems come equipped with medical and fire emergency services so that your property and family are protected from various types of safety risks.  There are a lot of different security options available. For systems that have smart home and monitoring, you can adjust your thermostat and appliances to save money on electricity when you're not home.  One increasingly popular form of theft is individuals who steal packages from houses after they are delivered.  Having security cameras may also be an added benefit for parents that have sneaky teenagers that they might want to keep an extra eye on.

Everyone has their different reasons for keeping their family and property safe.  Play it safe and invest in home protection today before it is too late.

Risks of  Your Home Not Being Protected

There is a burglary that occurs every 13 seconds, and millions of homes are burglarized each year.  Many of these incidents happen during the day while people are at work or running errands. Police resources are limited and only 13 percent of reported burglary cases are solved due to the lack of physical evidence or a witness.  Only 15 percent of items which are stolen from homes are in fact recovered and returned to their rightful owner. Currently, only 17 percent of houses have a home security system in place. It is important to avoid being a part of the 83% who are three times more likely to obtain their houses broken into.  Once your home is broken into it's quite difficult to cope with the emotional distress of knowing that a burglar had access into your home. The time is now to be proactive and make the decision to protect your loved ones, home, and pets from harm.
