There are designed to be installed under the wash basin and operated electronically. These devices are able to self-cleaned and require less maintenance and care. Proper use and preventive maintenance can increase the lifespan and operational capacity of these units. Different manufactures suggest that the maintenance and defective monitoring of these products after 2,3 weeks would discard the huge burden on local waste management system.

A lot of people complain about the noise produced by the operational system of these food degradable units. In order to solve noisy problem, quiet garbage disposals have been developed over the years.

When the food trashed into disposal directs to septic system, it exerts pressure and strain on the waste system. The increase load would considerably require the pumping and cleaning of the septic tank. Therefore there are different ways how you can use your quiet garbage disposal system in the kitchen.

Manual and physical removal

The items which and non-biodegradable and are not suitable for disposal unit should be manually removed. Food waste before throwing into the disposal system needs to be in small spices. No food elements like bottle caps, aluminum foil can get stuck in the disposal pathway and damage it.

Water Flushing

Flushing with steady and fast run of water after turning it off for almost 30 seconds would remove the loose grim and food scraps along the pipe. Normally cold water is used because it will enable fat and grease from the bladed to get hard and congealed which after that wash through. The presence of cold water also eliminates the overheating of the garbage units.

Use of ice cubes

Occasionally, the use of ice cubes after grinding can solidify the fat and grease from the impeller blades and help to function properly. After filling the grinded ice into the pipe, please make sure that the opening is fully blocked by rubber stopper so it could not follow back. Table salt in small amounts can increase the process of grease solidification.

Scrubbing with Brush

Cleaning the garbage unit manually through brush with the help of soap and water would remove the girt and sludge from inside. Lemon in the shape of wedges not only acts as a cleaning agent for the unit but also keep the fresh smell. The citrus juice also prevents bacterial growth in the garbage disposal.

Use of harsh chemical

Some chemicals are also used as cleaning products for garbage disposal units. The extensive use of the chemical could damage the plumbing network and environment system as they enter into aqueous cycle.

Now a day modern and quiet garbage disposal system have reset button which is used when there is a fault during operation. This provides a first method to repair the unit at home. For troubleshooting on big issues, a professional and experienced plumber should be called. The maintenance cost of these units can be avoided through regular inspection with kitchen service companies present in your region.
