Choosing accessories for your home is very similar to choosing the right accessories to complete your outfit. It all has to correlate without overshadowing every other beautiful detail. Meaning, you must take the time to choose the perfect types of blinds for windows in your home.

Vertical Blinds

Probably one of the most commonly recognized, especially in rental homes. Blinds are long vertical slats that hang down and are mobile via a plastic wand attached to the top rod. The slats could be made from plastic or fabric and ordered individually as they do tend to break often in homes that have kids or pets.  This style is typically great for any room and can be customized for safety specificity such as fire retardant finished on the slats for kitchens. Vertical blinds are perfect for controlling how much light comes in and out of a room as well as privacy. 

 

Venetian Blinds

While vertical blinds are vertical slats of plastic, wood or any other durable material that are slidable from side to side for opening, Venetian blinds are horizontal slats that are operated by two accessories. The first is a wand that tilts the slats to allow more or less light in while still providing privacy. Chords are the second accessory that make it possible to bring the blinds up and down to allow the optimal amount of sunlight or give the ability to have easy access to the window for better airflow. Venetian blinds are great for any room and have easy maintenance with just a quick wipe down with a dust cloth. 

 

Roman blinds

Roman blinds are fabric window fixtures that when altered upwards create decorative folds enhancing the aesthetic likeness of the windows. Roman window blinds are one of the most luxurious looking window treatments, however probably one of the most difficult to clean. Because it is fabric, the Romans blinds will need to be either added to the washer with a load of laundry or taken to the dry cleaners to ensure a thorough cleaning and maintenance of it's luxurious appeal. Roman blinds also provide less privacy for you as you can only have full exposure, none at all or half way. 

 

Roller Blinds

Fabric blinds that look barely there when rolled up and can be customized to nearly any design you choose are known as rolled blinds. Roller Blinds are sheets of fabric that wrap around a tube on the top and bottom. With a tug on a string you are able to roll these blinds up or down to bring more or less sunlight in. The fun thing about roller blinds is that it can be customized to any material or fabric you could think of. Maintenance for these blinds is dependent on the material used to make them for fabric or cloth like sheets, vacuuming or dry-cleaning is the best way to upkeep the professional look of roller blinds. 

 

Homeowners don't usually think that the small details in a home matter. However, the absolutely do matter. With something as small and specific as types of blinds for windows, you'd be surprised to see how many don't know the great impact it can add to your home.
