The Real Estate Marketing Expert Guide to SEO

One of the greatest parts of being a Realtor is that you get to run your own business. You call all the shots on how to sell your properties.

As such, that means that every aspect of the selling process, such as marketing your properties, falls to you.

Luckily, you live in a time where online marketing has never been more prevalent than it is right now. You can take full advantage of this trend.

You don't have to be a marketing wizard to excel. Here's what real estate marketing experts say are the best tips for building SEO on all your advertising endeavors.

  1. Start/Build up Your Blog

First things first: If you don't have a blog on your real estate website, you need to start one right away.

If you already have one, but you haven't be prioritizing it, there's no better time than right now to start doing so!

Having a blog on your site lets you offer quality information and build your brand as a realtor. It gives readers the impression that you're the expert in your industry, and they'll flock to your services as a result.

Blogs are an essential part of building SEO-directed content on your website. You can't possibly hope to have enough quality content on that site without one.

  1. Prioritize Keywords

There are several key ingredients in building Search Engine Optimization (SEO) in your real estate marketing. Google's algorithm takes all of these factors into consideration when pushing out your content.

One of the biggest factors is the keywords that you're using (or not using) in the content that you display.

Every modern-day Realtor will push their properties online through social media platforms such as LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram.

Those certainly have their place in your marketing tactics, but they're no longer considered "innovative" techniques.

On the contrary, very few modern-day Realtors take the time to research keywords that their target customers are searching for. That doesn't mean you have to spend hours diving into the archives of the world wide web.

There are keyword research tools designed to help you find keywords with things such as high click potential, volume, and geo-focused results. All of which can significantly boost your SEO if you put them to use in your content.

  1. Focus on Your Google Business Page for Local Search

As a Realtor, a good portion of your business will come from local buyers that are interested in your properties. The other portion of that will obviously be from buyers that are currently outside your community.

A common misconception is that optimizing your local SEO will only reach potential buyers in your local market. That couldn't be further from the truth.

Consider this: You currently live in Atlanta but are looking to purchase property in Seattle.

Obviously, living that far away, you more than likely have no prior connection to real estate companies in the Seattle area.

If so, you'll go onto Google and type in something along the lines of "Seattle Real Estate" and reach out to the companies that pop up as top results.

You'll want to place a premium on updating all your contact information on your "my business" page on Google. Remember to place the numbers in the right format so potential buyers can one-click call you from the search results on their phone.

Doing things like asking satisfied customers to fill out online Google reviews will be a tremendous boost to your SEO for real estate.

  1. Embed Links in Your Content

On top of integrating relevant keywords into your content, you'll also want to be sure and embed quality links as well.

It's yet another key component that search engines such as Google place a premium on. If your content either has no links or has links to irrelevant content, Google won't push it.

A common rule of thumb is to place anywhere between two to five links (both internal and external) in your posts.

Be sure to consider the length of your posts before placing five internal and external links in. Doing so will make Google think you're trying to keyword-stuff or link-stuff your page in a black hat SEO effort (which is a bad thing).

Try to think of your site as a spiderweb. In order for it to function efficiently, you need to have deep, consistent links that connect all your posts to one another.

  1. Push Your Site on Social Media

Speaking of spiderwebs, you should consider your social media as a means of pushing your website (and its articles) on it, and vice verse.

View all of your followers on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, etc. as potential buyers that can be "wooed" by the content on your site

All it may take is one well-written article that provides value to propel them as a qualified lead in your book of business. The more followers you have clicking on your site, the more site visits you'll get (this pushing your SEO).

SEO can be a tedious process when you get going. However, once you reach the top results on Google, it sells itself from that point on. It will be well worth your time and effort in the long run.
