Giving a Real Estate Gift that Matters

What makes a real estate gift so important to a realtor’s long-term business success?

The answer is quite simple; everyone loves a thoughtful and unexpected gift!

As a top real estate agent you know your customer’s taste better than some of their closest friends or family. After all, you have tirelessly searched for the perfect home according to their likes, dislikes and personal preferences. It's time to celebrate having settled them into a home that personifies their uniqueness.

Some agents choose flowers, others give welcome baskets, gift certificates, or bottles of wine, which are all fine, but eventually these gifts will be used up, die off or end up in a recycling bin. Why not go the extra mile and give your clients a permanent accessory in their home that they will use every day and appreciate often? Give a gift that lasts, is truly useful, and will stick around for years to come.

Personalized Real Estate Gifts

Consider a fully customizable, personalized cutting board, family ruler or stepping stool that make the perfect addition to the client’s new home. Each piece is different and you can make choices for the new homeowners that reflect their personality and can be incorporated perfectly into their new home.

Ask yourself a few questions:

  • Are they a fan of hosting parties and like to be able to present a beautiful turkey, smoked salmon or other delicious main course on a pretty wood platter?
  • Are they excited to bring out the BBQ each spring and would value a hefty cutting board to showcase their culinary success?
  • Do they have kids that would benefit from having a personalized step stool to help them become more independent in the kitchen or bathroom?
  • Are they counting down the days until the grandchildren visit and want a cute, but sophisticated, way want to keep track of their heights?

There are lots of options!

Create a brand for your business or agency, without overshadowing the gesture, by including a small engraving of your initials, name or agency on the back of the board or a small corner that will remind the homeowners of your hard work.

Consider giving a gift that was made with expert craftsmanship at just the right price. Giving a quality gift is important and shows the client that you have spent just the right amount to show them that you truly care about their business. Without flaunting the cut you have received on the sale of the home or obviously skimping on the paycheck you’ve earned, you can meet in the middle with a gift that is perfect for the occasion and the clients. Just remember to give something that you would want to receive!

This special and unique “thank you for your business” gift will be the last gesture of your efforts! Take advantage of the opportunity to create an open line of communication between you and the homeowners. Consider this gesture as an important stepping stone for you to continue to grow your professional and personal relationship with your clients long after the transaction is finished.

A well thought out closing gift gives your clients reassurance that if they refer you to a friend they will experience the best service… from initial house hunting to after the closing.
