Agents: Open lines of Communication On a Budget

Communication is one of the cornerstones of our society. Good communication keeps lives, decisions, and businesses running smoothly. Cut off those lines and you'll find it difficult and frustrating to keep on task.

This means that providing avenues of communication is one of the most important steps in becoming a successful agent.

Clients want to reach you at all hours of day, whether it's in person, through text, or email. On the flip side of the coin, agents need to be able to get through to clients. Offers and contracts can move quickly. You need to keep a deal moving!

Today's technology offers a wide range of options for today's business owner, but how you can be sure to go high-tech and low budget at the same time?

First, start with a low-cost website, from such sites as wordpress.com. These blog sites are free and can be a great way to increase your web presence while keeping hold of you Benjamins. By keeping your site simple you can even do the design yourself. Just don't compromise quality. If it's in your body, consider enlisting the help of a local up-and-coming designer.

For a custom domain from wordpress, hosting is just $13.00 a year. Or you can store it with the hosting company of your choice. Just be sure to shop around for the best deals. A little comparative shopping can get you the same thing for much less.

Next, always have a functioning email. Set up your junk and Spam folders so that you don't miss out on important emails that accidentally get filtered away.

Need to do video conferencing? This is great for buyers and sellers that are out of town. This affords you good face-to-face time without costing you a cent! All you need is a webcam and mic, which most laptops today come standard.

A perfectly decent set will cost you less than $20 if you have to buy one. Just be sure to set up an attractive background for your chatting sessions. No one wants to see your messy kitchen or chaotic office.

Finally, keep your favorite smartphone, but cut your cell phone bill in half. Contract plans with major wireless carriers can help you afford the latest smartphone on the market, but at what cost?

Many major carriers, and some smaller ones, now offer very reasonable pay-as-you-go and prepaid plans, many of which offer the same unlimited text, talk, and wireless for a fraction of the cost of a contract plan. Be sure to research these options for your business cell.

Cell phones are great way to ensure you never miss that important call. Be sure to offer your clients to option of texting you as well. Many people today simply don't want to make an "old school" phone call and would rather have the speed and non-confrontation of a text.

Keeping the lines of communication open doesn't have to mean breaking the bank. Be sure to shop around for the cheapest hosting, email, and cell service. It'll be worth your time and your business's bottom line will thank you!
