Google Plus, the social networking service developed by the search giant Google, is a great medium where real estate agents can promote their business. If you haven't already joined Google Plus, now is a good time to do it.
Read our beginner's guide to Google Plus in order to quickly get up and running with the service.
One of the most interesting implementations made possible by Google Plus is the authorship feature, which essentialy associates you (and in the case of real estate agents, your listings) with a real person. This creates enhanced results in Google, which puts your name and your face to your work.
In order to create the connection, you need to follow a 2-step process:
- Insert the rel="author" tag in the header of your website. Detailed instructions of how to do it can be found here.
- Add a link to your website in the "Contributor to" section of your Google Plus profile.
A great advantage of a Point2 Agent subscription is the fact that the agents' listings get automatically syndicated with the author tag on the real estate listings portal Point2 Homes. This in turn means that if someone searches for your listings on Google you get enhanced exposure, as your picture is displayed next to the search result. Here's an example:
During the month of October, we organized a contest in which every Point2 Agent subscriber that correctly implements the authorship feature wins guaranteed featured ads on Point2 Homes. Additionally, one lucky agent will win a one-year subscription to Point2 Agent Professional.
If you are a Point2 Agent subscriber already but haven't entered the contest yet, there's still time to do it. All you need to do is go to the post that announces it and leave a comment that includes a link to your Google Plus profile.
So what are you waiting for? Enter our contest and get those featured agent ads up and running!
