Millennials are more likely to brag to a friend about a home automation system then newly renovated kitchen.
Also known as "Gen Yers" or "Generation Y", they want smart homes instead of luxury homes, smaller, functional homes instead of sprawling McMansions and they are do-it-yourselfers who want to gut those "cookie cutter" homes, room-by-room and remodel them in the image of their own lifestyle, according to a Better Homes and Gardens (BHG) Real Estate survey.
Aged 18 to 35, most Millennials want these changes in homes so much, they believe home technology capabilities are more important than curb appeal.
If you are selling homes to these new kids on the block, you'd better get to know them.
