Question: What is radon?
Answer: In general terms, radon is a naturally-occurring, radioactive gas produced by the decay of matter beneath the ground. Radon rises through the ground and enters the atmosphere. The concern regarding radon is that it can be trapped in homes in concentrations that are very much higher than those usually found in nature. Higher levels, in turn, may lead to lung cancer according to some theories.
