NRT Enters Denver Market

NRT Inc. has acquired both Moore & Co. and Coldwell Banker Van Schaack, two of Denver’s oldest and largest regionally owned and operated brokerages.

Operating under the name Coldwell Banker Moore & Co., the merged Moore/Van Schaack organization will now have approximately 1,000 sales associates working out of 34 offices. Combined, the two organizations generated nearly $2.5 billion in closed residential sales volume for 1997.

Moore accounted for $1.5 billion of the total while Van Schaack contributed a balance of nearly $1 billion. The two companies’ each have commercial operations that yielded another $123 million in closed volume for 1997.

Since 1997, NRT has acquired about two dozen major real estate brokerages throughout the America, including Jon Douglas Co., Burnet Financial Group and Cornish & Carey. Respectively, those three firms ranked as the nation’s third, fifth and tenth largest residential brokerages by sales volume when NRT acquired them.

Including the Mile High City, Parsippany, NJ-based NRT now has operating companies in 18 major metropolitan markets across the nation. Moore & Co. is currently headed by William Moore, the CEO, and Peter Niederman, chief operating officer. Moore and Niederman will maintain their titles and leadership roles as the top two executives of NRT’s Coldwell Banker Moore and Company operations for Greater Denver.

The Van Schaack company has deep roots in Denver as well. Founded in 1911, the company was acquired in 1995 by the Webber family and became a leading Coldwell Banker affiliate. R. Scott Webber, president of Coldwell Banker Van Schaack and Salt Lake City-based Coldwell Banker Premier Realty, will also join NRT in a senior regional management role.
