A home built in 1948 for Marilyn Monroe’s doctor has been sold after being in the family for 50 years, according to the Los Angeles Times.

The house, which is just off the Sunset Strip, commanded $725,000. It was built for Dr. Hyman Engelberg, who lived there with his wife Esther until they divorced.

The house is of the Frank Lloyd Wright school, having been designed by the master’s pupil Harry Harrison. The 2,500, three-bedroom home is said to be quite functional.

After the Engelbergs’ divorce, Esther married writer Albert Maltz. Maltz was one of the "Hollywood 10." He spent time in jail and was blacklisted by the industry for refusing to answer to the House Un-American Activities Committee in 1947. Maltz had been questioned about alleged Communist involvement in the film industry.

Maltz’s credits include "This Gun for Hire" and "Broken Arrow," which he wrote under a pseudonym so that it would be filmed.

Esther died earlier this year, leaving the house empty for the first time in half a century.

The house includes a pool and city views, according to the L.A. Times.
