Rogers™ AT&T® Wireless, Ericsson Canada and the Hamilton-Burlington and District Real Estate Board (HBDREB) are pleased to announce a Canadian first with the introduction of Wireless MLS®. This unique initiative provides REALTOR®s mobile access to the board’s Multiple Listing Service® (MLS®) database, through wireless handheld devices. Wireless access to the MLS database, which contains approximately 4,000 records/properties available for sale across the region, enables information to be transmitted directly to the REALTOR anytime, anywhere. REALTORs will be able to run a query on any property, even those listed minutes earlier, from the convenience of their home, office or during a meeting with their client. No longer will REALTORs have to navigate through an answering service to contact a listing salesperson during non-business hours. With wireless MLS access it’s as simple as entering the address into their wireless device, and in less than a minute, they will be able to review details of the property. Ericsson designed and built the application that allows REALTORs to access the MLS database through a variety of wireless devices. Ericsson is also managing and hosting the application, which makes it cost effective for the HBREB. “To stay competitive, today’s real estate professional needs access to a portable wireless solution and Rogers AT&T Wireless is pleased to provide this must-have service,” said Douglas Cotton, President, Ontario Region, Rogers AT&T Wireless. “With wireless MLS, realtors will have greater freedom to conduct business away from their office, enabling them to provide increased support to their clients.” “Wireless MLS answers the needs of today’s homebuyers who are more informed and can benefit by having their REALTORS connected to live information such as new property listings”, said Ken Hajas, HBDREB President. “With the immediacy of today’s marketplace the timing of our Wireless MLS launch couldn’t be better”. On Thursday, January 31 at 10:00 am at the HBREB office, (505 York Blvd., Hamilton, Ontario), members of the media will have an opportunity to trial this new capability. |
