Market Conditions: Atlanta, Georgia
by Realty Times Staff

Andrew Malone, our local expert for the Atlanta area, reports buyers are still hesitating before they join the market.

Buyers are in a holding pattern, he says, and are not as quick to jump on a house when it becomes available.

This is causing inventory levels to remain high, which in turn lowers prices.

But not to worry, says Malone. Atlanta hasn't seen the same dramatic price drops as other parts of the country.

He does foresee sales picking up this spring, though prices should remain flat.

The good news in all this is for buyers, who have the luxury of lower interest rates, lower home prices and sellers eager to negotiate.

The biggest struggles in this market are the neighborhoods that saw growth of 10 to 20 percent a year.

Those areas are seeing much larger prices drops, reports Malone.
