Do You Or Your Broker Own Your Domain Name? |
The examples you gave such as www.danaweldon.com being owned by St. Joe, may in fact, not be the case. If an agent registered their name using their own personal name as the Administrative Contact then the agent does own their domain. All you need do to check is go to Register.com, search for danaweldon.com. It will tell you that the name is taken. To find out who owns it, simply click on the name and look under Admin. Contact. By the way, if it appears that St. Joe is the owner of record, it would be interesting to check latest court cases. Some very large companies have sued domain owners for the return of their name. As I recall, the court deemed the name was the person's identity and that was equivelant to IDENTITY THEFT! How's that for something to chew on?:-)
