Why Aren't Listings Posted Instantly to the Internet?

The bane of Internet listings

A good piece Blanche. But the criteria for broker listings to be posted to the MLS varies nationwide. Here in North Texas, the NTREIN MLS requires posting within 72 hours.

More and more brokers are concerned with the lag time from local listing taken to posting to the national sites. Take John L. Scott in Bellevue and Seattle and others. They post post listings same-day to their huge cooperative made up of several area brokers before releasing them to the nationals.

In my experience Realtor.Com is the slowest. Moreover, listings there are outdated by months. I sometimes get inquiries on homes that closed some months before. Always the inquiry came from Realtor.Com. I personally have a listing whose year built dated is incorrect on Realtor.Com. The correction was made instantly in Dallas, but getting it changed on Realtor.Com takes an act of Congress.
