Is It Time To Dump Seller Disclosures? |
Peter, Thank you for your response. I did an inadequate job of explaining my position. We DID and DO advocate professionals in a real estate transaction. But more is required. We had a licensed engineer and a termite inspector each do an inspection. We rec'd a Seller's Disclosure. Shortly after closing we discovered 50% of the purchase price in structural termite and foundation problems. The inspectors and the Seller have to be taken to court. The State Attorney General's office only offers Consumer Fraud protection to people purchasing from a company, not an individual. I have found this to be an alarming problem for home buyers. They hire the professionals, they have all the forms filled out and it still doesn't work well.
