Using Virtual Tours
Posted By: Allen F. Hainge, CRS - 05/01/2001 09:04 AM
Great article, as usual, Blanche, one that makes two salient points: the disturbing influence of Homestore.com when it comes to the Realtor's use of technology and the impact of virtual tours.
I'd make one important addition to your list of IPIX alternatives: VisualTour.com. Based on what I see from my CyberStars(tm), a group of top agents nationwide who dominate their market using today's technology, I'd have to say that VisualTour.com is their #1 money making software.
Unlike IPIX and the other alternatives listed, VisualTour.com does not depend on a photographer coming to the property. Instead, the agent takes his or her digitial photos, arranges them in a tour, adds voice narration to each photo if desired, a music background and slide transition, and it's done. A very simple program to use, and it offers several important advantages over the other choices listed:
* Tours may be posted to the Web, saved to disk, emailed or shown on the agent's computer.
* Up to 50 photos in a tour
* Immediacy. The agent can preview a home, take the photos, then come to the listing presentation that night with a tour to show on his/her computer and tours on disks to give the sellers, so that they can pass them out to anyone interested in their home.
* Voice narration of any/all photos...a tremendous marketing plus!
There are more advantages, but I'd urge your readers to strongly consider VisualTour.com. Whichever way they go, however, I hope the see the money making value of virtual tours, not only on one's Web site but also shown on a computer and given out on disk.
