Response To: Non-disclosure to Be Interpreted in Florida (Robert Delmar - 12/10/1999)

What have you got to hide?

Remember, disclosure laws became necessary because of past abuses by real estate practitioners. By their actions, the FAR is saying "don't worry folks, we learned our lesson, just trust us".
I believe that the consumer deserves the right to know, at the first encounter, who they are dealing with, just as in any other business.
Full, timely disclosure is extremely important because of the various types of agency practices allowed by each state, and the particular brokerage policies adopted under such statutes. Consumers need to know precisely who they are talking with, how that person works, and what office policies will effect their relationship with an agent.
Agents and brokerage firms should be proud of the service and value they provide, and not hesitate to speak out & disclose their identity at each consumer point-of-contact.
If you've got nothing to hide, Agency Disclosure is simply part of your marketing message. What's wrong with that?
