Response To: Is Real Estate Ready For Term Licensing? (Peter G. Miller - 02/15/2000)

Term Licensing

Hear! Hear!

Term licensing is a terrific idea. Real estate today is more complex and requires more education (and experience) than ever before.

Ten years ago during a GRI course (when they were week-long events) one of the instructors "predicted" a level playing field within 10 years. She was off by a few years but I can see it coming now.

Along this same vein, is it possible we will see the beginnings of LLC's giving the client true representation at all times. Will this cause the demise of dual agency/designated representation? Not a bad idea when one gives it some thought. After all, labor and management don't usually hire the same attorney do they?

Many laws will have to change but perhaps if it is done with caution and caring the end result will give those of us in the industry and the consumer the better of both worlds! Representation and service.
