Contrary to Wells Fargo's rep's statement that the article only appeared in a selective newsletter, it was indeed posted to their website for all the world to see (and believe?). It has since been replaced with a redirection page.
But the work is truly cut out for us professional Realtors now. For not only is it our constant duty toraise the bar on our standards, but also to undo the poor light the proliferation of these sorts of misinformed articles cast us in.
Wells Fargo actually "borrowed" this article verbatim -- graphics and all -- from "Smart Money" magazine's controversial, yet popular feature "10 Things Your [fill in the blank] Won't Tell You" at their http://www.smartmoney.com's website and their print version.
This one was published 2-3 years ago. And was soundly thrashed (at least by me) at the time.
But it's interesting to note that Wells Fargo pointedly avoided "borrowing" Smart Money's companion article that ran concurrently and is posted in the same area on Smart Money's site aptly titled "10 Things Your Lender Won't Tell You". To understand why, take a gander at it at http://www.smartmoney.com/ac/home/buying/index.cfm?story=lender
