The Internet Messenger meets the Internet Clueless

Dear "Internet Messenger":
I read your "Shooting the Internet Messenger" story this morning and had to laugh at your audience. I hear this story at least once a week around Knoxville.
It's truly amazing that the level of Internet ignorance remains so high in my profession despite overwhelming evidence that the www is not only effective but very, very profitable.
I guess the ones of us that have embraced it and been successful with it will just have to keep on taking all those Internet generated commissions.
Sigh, it's a heavy burden. ;-)
Below is an e mail I received just this morning from a family that contacted me over a year ago and I've kept in touch with them primarily with your newsletters.
This is how the Internet should work for REALTORS.
"Contacted you by e-mail a little over a year ago regarding retirement in the Knoxville area. You were very helpful. Have since locked in on a retirement date (1 June 2001) and have a contract on the house here in Virginia. My wife and I will be in Knoxville 13-18 Feb and would like to meet with you (preferably the morning of the 14th) to begin the process of finding a suitable house in the Knoxville area."
And I kept in touch automatically and virtually (no pun intended) free; no trees, paper, or postage were consumed in this process.
What you told that group in Plano was right on target, they just didn't want to listen (or change)
