I am so glad to hear about all of this. I live in a state that licenses home inspectors. I think the proper thing, the thing that makes the most sense, and protects the buyer and HUD the most is to push that ALL home inspectors become licensed (nationwide), to a minimum standard, and have the burden of "inspecting" the property on them!!! They should be licensed anyway, we sure rely upon them to know what the heck they are doing, there is lesser professions requiring licensure, that's for sure! As for us, aren't we supposed to be determining an estimate of value on this property (based upon the market). Can someone please tell me what difference in market value there would be between two homes, one with a handrail on a 4 step stoop and one without??? What in the world does that have to do with appraising a property???? Thanks for letting me vent!!!
