Forbes.com Editor Sets Blanche Straight

Dear Ms Evans:
I'm writing in response to your article posted on realtytimes.com on March 2, 2001, entitled "Forbes.com Calls Real Estate Brokers Annoying." You have mixed up Forbes.com's Lifestyle channel and Forbes Best of the Web in a way that can only confuse your readers.
Best of The Web is a supplement to Forbes magazine, published five times-a-year. Forbes.com posts the full content of each issue of Best of The Web online, as it does for all Forbes magazine titles, but Best of the Web is a separate editorial entity, with its own staff. They have no editorial connection with Forbes.com's Lifestyle channel beyond being owned by the same parent company and sharing the same penchant for a bluntness of point of view for which Forbes is famous.
Your piece makes it sound as if the editorial opinion of Best of the Web is that of the editors of Forbes.com's Lifestyle channel, which is just not the case. In fact, Forbes.com's Lifestyle channel has designated more than 30 top realtors around the country as Forbes.com Favorites.
I hope you will take the earliest opportunity to correct the mistaken impression you have given your readers about Forbes.com and Forbes Best of the Web.
Sincerely,
Paul Maidment Editor, Forbes.com & Executive Editor, Forbes
P.S. Forbes.com is not some Johnny-come-lately to the Web, as you state. It has been around since 1996.
