Term Licensing

Thanks for your note.
You raise several good points. Let's look at them one at a time:
You ask how term licensing might work in comparison to other occupations such as doctors and police officers.
There is no sub-class of doctors -- one either is a physician or is not. Related health professionals such as nurses and technicians do not have the authority or licensure status of doctors.
As to police officers, same deal. One either is authorized to enforce the laws as an officer or one is not. There are no "assistant" police.
You note that " A broker designation is no guarantee of quality." Agreed. That said, there is no guarantee regarding uniform and absolute quality in any profession. I simply believe that a broker's license is an attractive and better benchmark than a sales license.
You write that, "It has been my experience that many long term sales people know as much or more about their profession that some brokers. They haven't taken the step of obtaining the actual brokers license because of the additional expense and liability. "
The fact that an individual has a broker's license does not mean that one must practice indpendently. One can continue as an associate broker, a common practice, and have essentially the same costs and liability as a salesperson.
All the best.
