Dear Fellow Thinkers,
I appreciate the feedback and view points of both of you. I am a non-conformist but in the since that I applaud professionalism. If we as an industry are going to charge people some of the highest professional fees of their lives we damn well better earn it. I detest the mediocricy I see in our industry. In Arizona you go to a "school" to learn how to pass a test and then the state (if you pass with a 75% score) sends you out to be a real estate sales person. Most companies have a 2-3 week training program if you find one and then you expect to be paid the same as a professional "Realtor" with hundreds of transactions under their belt and our industry says ok. Please do not get me going on the horrible content and remedial level of the required renewal education.
I have the only paid training program I have ever heard of in my area. I actually invest in my sales people and hold them accountable to me and our clients. And I am a "discounter". I have a strong desire to bring honor to my profession and create a better way to buy and sell real estate. We are building such a machine here in Tucson.
I am a Realtor. And I belong to the club (MLS). I have a very good associate who owns a buyers agent franchise. I think single agency is great. To me it demonstrates a committment to our business and our clients. We are choosing to focus primarily on sellers(I hope to be pure sellers soon). The only buyers I work with now are friends and referrals. My sales people still like the thrill of the 3% payday, thus they are "sales" people and I celebrate their service to my vision.
Please don't ever think you will waste your breathe on me. I seek to learn, improve and grow. Thank you for your time and thoughts.
Sincerely,
Bryant D. Keefe
P.S. The no Realtors message comes from a project we are working on to develope a fsbo site, www.tucsonfsbo.com. it is in it's infancy.
