The concept of "term licensing" is a great one. I have been advising it for several years and have written about it in 20/20 Vision. And while licensing authorities are generally not predisposed to do anything to reduce revenues (which would be the likely result of a drastic reduction in numbers of licensees), individual broker-owners might well decide to set up a "career path" which would require agents working for their companies to move up to the full broker's license within a specified period of time. Such a move would be accompanied by an all-out public relations campaign emphasizing the importance of dealing with highly skilled, experienced agents. There is little doubt that a number of top agents will follow the lead of doctors and attorneys by establishing their own LLPs or LLCs which will be owned and operated by these fully licensed brokers, with support staff consisting of "junior" salesperson licensees, unlicensed assistants, telemarketers and other support personnel. The Company of the Future is not going to look much like the Company of the Past!
