Response To: Homestore Stock Buys Prompts NAR to Review Conflict of Interest Policy (Realty Times Staff - 09/22/1999)

Is this leadership????

It appears that we have found the major issue that will be discussed at the upcoming NAR meeting in Orlando. This conflict of interest is unbelievable. It is apparent that there is a major double-standard at work within the leadership ranks of NAR. We hear so often how hard the REALTOR leaders at the national level work on our behalf, only to have situations like this occur.

There is one solution to this matter. Sharon and Dennis must resign their leadership positions. This is the only action that will start the process of restoring any element of integrity within the leaderhship ranks of NAR. In addition, full disclosure of all "family members" who are in leadership positions at NAR or in key staff positions within NAR must be disclosed.

Finally, while it may be a good idea to appoint a work group to study this issue, who appointed the group??? Did Sharon and Dennis appoint the work group that is charged with looking at the issue of conflicts of interest within NAR??? If so, the group will have no credibility when the report is issued.

Bottom line----Sharon and Dennis must resign.
