The Internet is opening new avenues of journalism, and many of the rules can be relaxed to allow writers and readers to interact much more effectively together. Judging from the response to the article, this story is a perfect example of bringing readers inside journalism.
The reason I went with a different approach is that disagreements are common between brokers and customers. That isn't newsworthy, so this story wasn't written as a report in which telling both sides is journalistic fair practice, It was written as a human interest piece. We told Terry's story. The interactive button makes a real opportunity for readers to fill in the blanks of the story, which were left open intentionally.
I saw an opportunity to allow other Realtors to read what a buyer wrote to me and get their input on what Terry should do and how she could be better served. And the results have been uplifting.
I hope you'll keep reading Agent News and Realty Times.
