The answer to your question, what did we get by writing about them? (non advertising companies) is: traffic. Traffic and eyeballs for your paying advertisers.
There is a line between advertising, reporting and editorial. Your stories are presented like straight news. They are written like an editorial. They have embedded links that look like ads. You provide a forum for industry leaders to push their agendas. However, I have yet to see a hard news story that questions the statuesque with investigative reporting.
Please prove me wrong!
