Double-Dipping Dilemma
Posted By: IMSmileyC - 09/02/1999 03:26 PM
I noticed on the responses to Blanche Evans' article on "Why Aren't Listings Posted Instantly to the Internet?", Gary Edwards made an intuitive observation, "Double Dip Dilemma/Reluctant Double Dipper's Dilemma" -- what he failed to comment, to save face and not offend us Realtors, is that there are some rotten apples in the industrial basket -- when a greedy, selfish, unprofessional, unscrupulous real estate licensee gets a listing that he doesn't want to share with his/her peers, what's to stop him/her from submitting it to the MLS -- even if the listing is submitting within the 'required' time, what's to prevent him/her from telling us that the property is sold/pending/in escrow... ??? Maybe, that's why 'dual agency' has a bad name. Such an agent would be providing a disservice to the seller. All in the name of money.
