Response To: Should National Listings Services Continue To Pay MLSs For Listings? (Blanche Evans - 04/04/2001)

Don't be the last Lemming in line

I say be the first Lemming to jump. Agents should continue to pay (read buy web pages/sites) to have their listings appear on Realtor.com, Homes.com, Homeadvisor.com and Homeseekers.com. Take pity on these struggling companies who are now finding it much harder to double-end the transaction.

It used to be that these companies could get zillions of dollars of advertising revenue because they had zillions of home listings on their web sites. On the Internet homes listings equal advertising revenue.

They could also double-end this biz plan by charging agents to advertise themselves and their home listings. What a great idea. Kind-a-like having their cake and eating it. All they had to do was pay the MLS a few bucks.

Now that the advertising rev has dried up and the bucks going to the MLS seem unreasonable. Boohoo!

The answer is simple...charge the agent more! And you know that's going to happen. So I say avoid the rush and be the first Lemming to jump. Send your certified check to Realtor.com or any of the other ones before it's too late!
