Another HUGE Problem for Homes.com Agents
Posted By: TrackMy - 03/25/2001 12:39 PM

Domain name transfer is another issue that Homes.com agents will be facing if they wish to find a new home for their web presence.

As a competitor in the So. Ca. area, we have to transfer domains from Homes.com and Homeseekers.com every week, as well as from other web site providers.

In most cases, those transfers can be completed within 24 hours. In the case of Homes.com, we have never had a case where the transfer took less than several weeks. It usually involves numerous emails and phone calls both on the part of the agent and our technical staff.

There is no excuse for this. By registering or maintaining a domain, any company must make it simple and quick to transfer that domain, after all it is the property of the agent. If we are asked to transfer or acknowledge a transfer of a domain to another hosting service, we make it a priority. Anything less is holding the agent hostage.

Over the next few months, we will be transferring many more agents domains from Homes.com to our servers, and although we are happy to provide a stable home for those agents, I am not looking forward to that nightmare.
