When is a listing not a listing? Buyer Contracts
Posted By: Muffie Hendricks - 11/19/2001 08:59 AM

A Buyer Agency contract is still not considered a legitimate listing with most REALTORS, third party companies and mortgage companies. I think the reason, in part, is that it is hard to change traditions, where home "listings are the name of the game". Second, Buyers are uncomfortable asking questions about how we're paid. In spite of many state-required disclosures, many agents present them as a negative, rather than a opening to a frank discussion of how agents get compensated. And third, I wonder if some of us are so paranoid about Exclusive Buyer Agents "taking" our business that we fight all buyer agency. In my opinion, until subagency is gone, Buyer Agency will continue to be a confusing issue.
